Moto G5 Plus Launch confirmed in India on March 15

Moto G5 PlusLenovo, the company that owns Motorola, is going to launch Moto G5 Plus in India on March 15 2017. The announcement comes just a day after the Moto G5 Plus (and G5’s) official unveiling at the Mobile World Congress. The block your date invite being shared with media makes a clear mention of the Moto G5 Plus, but, the future of the Moto G5 (in India) seems to be a little uncertain as of now. Ideally, the company should launch both the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus phones together on the same day.

The Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus are new-age Moto G phones boasting of a full metal body and a front-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus, which are successors to last year’s Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, offer some noteworthy specs at relatively mainstream prices. While the Moto G5 has been priced at around Rs 14,054, the Moto G5 Plus starts at around Rs 15,275. These are of course with respect to their European and US pricing. Their pricing may be a little different on arrival in India, but, looking at the history of the Moto G phones here, ideally, they should cost at under Rs 20,000.

While the Moto G5 comes with a 5-inch screen, the Moto G5 Plus has a 5.2-inch display. Both the phones offer a 1080p resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and a water repellent nano-coating up-top. While the Moto G5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor the Moto G5 Plus has a beefier Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 inside. While the Moto G5 comes with 2/3 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal memory which is also expandable, the Moto G5 Plus comes with 2/4 GB of RAM and 16/64 GB of internal memory which is again expandable.

The Moto G5 Plus sports a 12-megapixel camera on the rear with dual autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. It is capable of recording 4K video. The Moto G5 on the other hand comes with a standard 13-megapixel camera. Both the phones come with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Both the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus run an almost unmodified version of Android Nougat with Google’s AI assistant inside.

While the Moto G5 is backed by a 2,800mAh battery, the Moto G5 Plus has a bigger 3,000mAh battery. Both the phones support fast charging.
